Koulia-Limassol School Run

Dear [Parent’s first name],

I hope you are well. I’m writing because many families in Kouklia/Secret Valley/Aphrodite Hills do the daily school run into Limassol, and with traffic it can become a long and tiring routine (often 3–4 hours of driving per day across two round trips).

I’m exploring a practical alternative: a small, organised school minibus service for children travelling from our area to Limassol schools.

The concept

Door-to-door pick-up and drop-off, each school day (term time).

A new or near-new minibus (likely 8-seater or 13-seater, depending on demand).

A mature, professional, fully licensed driver, employed specifically for this service.

Appropriate insurance and safeguarding standards, with parents able to meet the driver, understand the route, timings and procedures, and have a clear point of contact.

If helpful, parents can meet the proposed driver now, ahead of any decisions, to ensure everyone is comfortable.

Indicative cost

To make the economics work (and keep it reliable), the expected cost is likely to be in the region of €5,000–€6,000 per child per annum, depending on the final number of children, routes, and the schools involved.
If you have more than one child travelling (e.g., siblings at the same school), I expect we can structure a discounted rate for the second (and subsequent) child.

If there is sufficient interest, I will get the ball rolling
Specifically, I would:

Purchase the vehicle, with the specific vehicle reviewed and agreed by the participating parents before purchase.

Put in place proper professional/commercial insurance appropriate for a school transport service.

Ensure the driver is fully compliant locally, including refreshing/renewing his CRC, and handling any Cyprus licensing requirements (e.g., conversion from UK to Cyprus licensing where required), plus any other formalities needed for the role.

Keeping costs down / improving value

To help subsidise costs, the vehicle could also be made available to participating parents at weekends and during school holidays (for local trips, airport runs, outings, etc.), on a pre-agreed basis and subject to insurance and availability.

If demand grows, we could move to a larger vehicle, which should reduce the cost per pupil and allow for more route flexibility.

Why me / why now
I have relevant experience running transport operations. I previously ran a shuttle business between Geneva Airport and Verbier, operating 20+ vehicles and serving 100,000+ clients over 14 years—so I’m not a novice in terms of vehicles, routing, reliability, safety procedures, and customer service.

Next step (no commitment at this stage)
If this would be of interest to you, could you reply with:

Child(ren)’s school(s) in Limassol and year group(s)

Pick-up area (Kouklia / Secret Valley / Aphrodite Hills)

Whether you’d want 5 days/week or fewer days

Any non-negotiables (timing constraints, door-to-door only, etc.)

And if you’re willing, it would also help greatly if you could:

Put me in touch with any other parents who might be interested (as numbers increase, the price per pupil can come down), and/or forward this email to them; and

Share a useful contact at the school administration (transport/operations/finance), so I can ensure we align with any school requirements and pick-up/drop-off procedures.

Many thanks, and please feel free to come back with any questions at all.
